صفرعلی براتلو، رئیس ستاد انتخابات تهران می گوید که با اتمام دور دوم رای گیری در حوزه های تهران، شهر ری، اسلامشهر و شمیرانات کار شمارش آرای این سه حوزه آغاز شده و نتایج همزمان با ارسال آمار به این ستاد رسما اعلام می شوند.

آقای براتلو که در ساعات پایانی روز جمعه (۱۵ اردیبهشت - چهارم مه) و دقایقی پس از پایان یافتن مهلت رای گیری در تهران و حومه با خبرنگاران سخن می گفت میزان مشارکت مردم در دور دوم انتخابات مجلس را نسبت به دور نخست "بیشتر" ارزیابی کرد.

این در حالی است که سالهای گذشته معمولا دور نخست انتخابات مجلس در ایران با مشارکت بیشتر رای دهندگان همراه بوده است.

مرحله اول انتخابات مجلس ایران، روز دوازدهم اسفند سال گذشته برگزار شد.

محور رقابت های مرحله دوم شهر تهران است به خاطر این که از مجموع ۳۰ نماینده، فقط تکلیف ۵ نماینده در دور اول انتخابات روشن شده بود و ۲۵ نماینده دیگر تهران به علت به حد نصاب نرسیدن آرا در مرحله اول، در دور دوم رای گیری انتخاب خواهند شد.

به گزارش خبرگزاری مهر، ۶۰ هزار ناظر شورای نگهبان و ۱۰ هزار نماینده کاندیداها بر روند برگزاری انتخابات نظارت کردند که نزدیک به نیمی از آنها نمایندگان نامزدها در شعب اخذ رای شهر تهران بودند.

مطابق قانون انتخابات ایران هر نامزدی که در دور دوم رای گیری بیشترین آرا را به خود اختصاص دهد، پیروز انتخابات خواهد بود.

مصطفی محمد نجار، وزیر کشور اعلام کرده که نتایج انتخابات ۲۴ ساعت بعد از رای گیری اعلام می شود.

به گفته وزیر کشور، در هفت حوزه انتخابیه، انتخابات به صورت رایانه ای برگزار می شود.

بعد از پایان انتخابات و اعلام نتایج از سوی وزارت کشور به عنوان مجری برگزاری انتخابات، شورای نگهبان باید به عنوان ناظر نتایج انتخابات را تائید کند.

انتخابات مجلس نهم در غیاب گروه ها و چهره‌های شاخص اصلاح‌طلب برگزار می‌شود که اعلام کرده اند به دلیل نبود شرایط برگزاری انتخابات آزاد، از حضور در آن خودداری کرده اند.

عمده رقابت برای به دست آوردن کرسی های مجلس نهم میان گروه‌های مختلف "اصولگرا" در جریان است.

جبهه متحد اصولگرایان به محوریت محمدرضا مهدوی کنی، رئیس مجلس خبرگان رهبری و جبهه پایداری انقلاب اسلامی به محوریت محمدتقی مصباح یزدی، روحانی نزدیک به آیت الله خامنه‌ای، دو ائتلاف اصلی محافظه‌کاران در انتخابات مجلس نهم هستند.
